In reality, you'd be better off having one made or, wait until a Johnny signature model comes up on ebay. They come up more often than you'd think. I believe Artie has new Filmore models at Front Porch, call him.

I already have a Johnny model and a MK II standard. I want the real deal now. The MK II has exact replica pups. Check out my introduction thread, pics there.

First off, if you find one, pm me. There are more than a few fakes out there. These guitars, as you know, are super rare. No one wants to pay in the thousands and find out they got screwed on a fake.

As far as I know, Tyms pickups are as close to the real deal as you'll get. Use that guitar for the early stuff, use the signature model for the later(Too tough To Die, etc.) stuff. 4x12 cab with greenbacks(or 70's era blackbacks) thru your 100w super lead on early(actually everything!), and JCM800 for the later stuff thru later 80's 4x12 cabs if you want to nail the sound as heard on record and live. Also, you may want to get an actual DiMarzio Fat Strat for the signature model, I'm not sure if it is a real one on the signature model.

Funny thing since I've got Tym's pups sound exactly like early Ramones both live and in studio just like Tim promised. The Marshall 4x12 makes a huge difference. I tried the JMP 100W Super Lead thru a 2x10 cabinet aswell and it sounded bad. I don't have a JCM800 and never will get one. Johnny bought his JCM800 in late 80s when the equipment van got stolen again, before that he used a JMP MK II (2203) 100W since 1977 (road to ruin is the first album with this head). It has a very cold sound and more gain than the super lead. You can hear the difference quite easily, especially on live recordings. The Super Lead is the best.

Also it is a real DiMarzio FS-1 on the signature model. It's one of the last ones made which are the most accurate. Eastwood JR Elites have FS-1 knockoffs.

I still, however, want a real slab Ventures II. It's kinda like a wife/girlfriend/blender; you need one but you're not exactly sure why, heh.
