Dennis:
As far as I know the buliding is still in use, building some sort of electronic assemblies.

Bud Ross/Kustom also made radar guns and other things. I think that he is no longer involved with them, but Kustom Electronics is still in business in Chanute.

He and some of the collectors will be touring the old factory and the guitar building shop as well. I'm not part of that tour, but I will try and get any info that I can.

I've returned from the Kustom show in Chanute Kansas and can say that this must have been very similar to the display of Mosrites at Deke's Guitar bash. Over 100 Tuck and Roll Kustom amps, all kinds of photos and memorabilia and a jam session too.

But, being the idiot that I am, I left my camera and cell phone in the kitchen when we left the house, so I am working on getting photos from some of the other attendees.

I got a chance to ask Bud Ross about his deal with Semi Moseley. He seemed a bit unsure of the exact timeline (late 60's or early 70's), but he said that his deal was a two year exclusive distribution contract for all Mosrite product.

I also asked him about the "Ross" guitar, and he said that he knew nothing about it. He did say that he sold the Ross line to IMC and he didn't know what they may have done.

Besides the Kustom line, Bud Ross also created the Ross line of FX, Road amps, Krossroads amps, Kustom Radar Guns, Bird Satellite dishes and a few other businesses.

That's incredible Bill,
What I keep finding very amusing, is that no one seems to remember
the Kasino Amps that Kustom brought out in 1970, possibly 1969. They
had regular Tolex (No Tucking Around! ).......

I did too, but there's not even a listing of such amps in the Vintage Guitar Price Guide......
Well, maybe they have now that I see the last Price Guide Book I got is from '05  ........

I remember those Kasinos well. In about 1970, a bass-player friend of mine and I were in a band with a collectively-owned PA. As we had more money invested than the other guys, when the band broke up he got the head and columns, and I got the mics and stands (four AKG's as I recall). The columns were charcoal-sparkle Naugahyde-covered Kustoms with 4-8" speakers in each, and the head was a four-channel 50-watt Kasino. Apparently, the Kasino line was intended to appeal to customers who felt that the tuck-and-roll-covered Kustom stuff was too gaudy.

Yes, and to the people that thought that the tuck and roll amps were too expensive as well. The Kasino line had list prices that were lower than the regular Kustom line.

I wish I would've known about the Kustom show...I would've cruised over to Chanute and took a look. Maybe even sell a few of my Kustom amps. SHUCKS!!!
