Beautiful work. However, I don't see a fret slot going into the binding nor do I see the fret tang notched to clear the binding. This will be interesting to see how you do that. :o

OK Danny here we go:
I make a nib with a special nipper like this:

A dent in the table is an ideal fixture to file the end prefectly flat:

Like this

Hope that will clear thing up!

If you don't have the special nipper you can use the file only, I do that with small fretwire because the nipper will distort the end. Some people use a dremel but for me nippers and a file work best.

Ah, I wasn't sure either, in the picture of the fret press I thought I saw the tang running the whole length of the fret. Maybe we need a smiley for "I need glasses". :)

Sure looks that way to me too. That's why I asked. I like that nipper. It sure beats my primitive way of doing it.

Very nice work, and it's very nice of you to share your construction techniques with us.

I really love the deco stairstep look of your peghead design.

Thanks Bill!

This weekend I fitted the neck:

A time-consuming job to get everything rite and tight fitted.

Just in time I realized that drilling the tunerholes is more convenient when the neck is not attached to the body

Great shots! It's looking beautiful. In one photo I saw a headstock with a very interesting drawing for an inlay. Is that a future project?

Hey Sarah, if you're referring to the 1st picture posted today, lower left corner, that's the headstock design for this one. We decided to toss a little El Tuce on it after all. Everyone seems to like the El Tuce thing, go figure! Guess it's got a ring!
