Let's talk boosters.

I been playing guitar for nearly 20 years now (darn I'm getting old) and for 3/4 of that time I been a guy that just uses a good guitar and a good amp, nothing else. but about 4 years now I been using more and more effects. my fav distortion pedal is my old russian sovtek big muff. this thing looks like a bomb! it even comes in a pine box with Russian print on the outside.
anyway about a year ago I went off the deep end and built up a collection of 13 pedals!

now I've got stripped it down to 9 pedals at home and 4 pedals if I play out. on thing I've done though that has made my life a million times simpler is I added mini toggle kill switches to all of my pedals, that is feed into the battery cable, so all I have to do to cut everything off is a little flip of a switch, instead of trying to unplug everything on a pedal board. it takes me 2 seconds to get all my gear turned on/off now.

my brother has gotten into building his own pedals (he made an env filter for me and a volume pedal) and has gotten really good at making his own decals. my favorite pedal he made is a tremolo pedal that he calls "the terror shakes" with a picture of Osama Bin Laden on it, and the controls are labeled "tremble" and "fear"

I'm not sure how much this crossing the line in bad taste, but the pedal sounds good at least

LOL! I LIKE the idea of being able to "STOMP ON" Osama Bin Laden's face in which I will end up
getting a nice tremelo effect in return . This way only Osama will "fear" and "tremble" .

Yes! the big green fuzz. I use the early 90's one. The rest of my chain is as follows:
1. tuner
2. big muff (nice and thick, for leads I slam down the wah for a wicked fuzz boost)
3. morley bad horsey (no on/off! great for phase and trem like sounds)
4. roland space echo or danecho (depends on the venue)
5. holy grail reverb (the flerb is great)
6. on top of the amp i have a Arion analog delay for self oscillating end of set madness. I also a have a Fuzzrite but I don't play out with it too often.
Same set up for the last 10 years or so.

Z.Vex Super Hard-On is really interesting, I have the Tremolo Probe pedal (which is based on the SHO), it might be nice to have one of those too for an alternative.

I got a ZVex Super Duper pedal today for testing - it's not just one, but two Super Hard-Ons in one pedal + master volume. The amount of boost you are able to get with this thang is just insane! But: this seriously brings the ultimate boosted great rock guitar sound, when I tested it with my Mosrite Ranger & Marshall Jubilee 50 W stack. Perfect for old style punk!

Edit: I tried the Super Duper with surf/instro-sounds in yesterdays' rehearsal. Actually I think that it will be a permanent part of my board in that style also! It fattens the sound nicely, and gives it a little bit of more body (or backbone. I don't know how to express this more accurately).

Wow it is interesting hearing everyones setup.
mine is -> guitar->tuner->boss compressor cs2->maxon autowah->ibanez deluxe tube screamer ->ibanez overdrive(pre tubescreamer)->sovtek big muff (big one) or supa tonebender -> turbo rat or MKIV ->holy grail->headrush2->space echo re101->orange ad30hdc
i also have a chanel switcher for my orange ad30htc amp that i use as a minor gain& volume boost.
notes:
i use the compressor for a boost and compression, tube screamer always on @ zero drive for a slightly warmer sound, over drive for slight grit the rest is obvious.
I am looking at getting a hotcake and a pog2 pedal
