Re: Any Marshall owners on here?
I had one of those 3 channel 2X12 Valvestate 100 watt combos with a 1936 2X12 cabinet. Sold it in 2005 and got the Peavey Classic 50 that I use now. I never used the distortion channels in it, I always used a Boss Overdrive with it on the clean channel, because it was warmer sounding. The Marshall's distortion was just too preamp-y and gronky for me on that amp no matter what I did.

yeah, a valvestate isn't exactly the greatest representation of the Marshall tone. have you heard of the newer class 5 marshalls out? marshalls have been making some newer amps now that are low in wattage, but is completely tubed. I haven't tried one out yet, but I've heard some good things in reviews.

Re: Any Marshall owners on here?
Nope.
For whatever reason, the big M sound does not resonate in this soul. After getting a Line 6 Vetta HD / 412 slant about 5 3/4 years ago, 'tried gobs of variations on Marshall models and we never made beautiful music together. And a bud has a micro-stack which he's ape over and makes no sense, here. Go figure. To each their own....
