I have an Easwood airline 3P Deluxe now for about 2 weeks. It was a spontanious ebay-bargain. It has NOT the Valco-replica Single Coils in humbucker-size.

The Pickups are called Alnico 10 Humbucker.

There's a new model called the 59 Custom Airline (available in 2P and 3P Version), which features the new Valco-replicas called Vintage Voiced Single Coils (VVSC), a cool looking rubber-binding and retro-looking switchplate, pickguard and knobs.

The new 59 Custom is much cooler in Looks, but is not available in as many colours as the Airline 3P deluxe. I can't say something about the difference in sound between the Alnico 10 Humbucker and the VVSC as I only have the humbuckers.

But there's an upgrade package available which contains everything (except binding of course) you need to make a 59 Custom out of your normal Airline 2P or 3P.

I don't have too much experience with mine. I rehearsed with a rock band and liked the sound, which is strong and powers through the mix very well. sound good with overdrive / little bit of distortion. Playability also is very good. Havent tried surfy sounds so far. What I do like a lot is feeling and how it sounds played just accoustically - it has good sustain despite the bolt on neck (which I like soundwise).

This is all I can say for now - got to play it a little longer

Well - maybe I will upgrade my Airline 3P deluxe with the VVSC. Mike from myrareguitars wrote, they sound more like P90.

I guess, the custom 60 is more a surf axe than the Eastwood. But I will do a guitar showdown in the rehearsal room soon and let you know bout that.

I've a Fillmore Mosrite Ranger so.. I'm looking 4 another -super cool hero-guitar..may be the airline isn't 4 surf,but I hope it sounds good 4 dirty instrumentals

my band mate has now a brand new -Eko 700-sparkling gold,really cool,and it sounds right too!!!(300 euro)

I'm sure the Eastwood guitar pictured in this thread is a great guitar but "to each his own" of course and thank goodness that tastes differ but may I say that I have never liked 'clownish' or outrageously shaped guitar bodies/headstocks with too many knobs and gadgets on 'em, regardless of quality or luthier fame. If there had been a logo on the guitar pictured here reading "Mosrite", "Fender", "Gibson", "Gretch" or any other great name, it would have made no difference to me so please don't take it the wrong way
Maybe I'm getting too old to open up to fanciful new shapes and perhaps I belong to the 'old' or 'traditional' school of guitar admirers, so take no notice of my views Bruno and Matze. (the "new Custom 59 model with rubber binding" though is not an 'outrageous' guitar) ENJOY!

I always liked those "map" guitars - thought I'd like to have one of those ....

Hi Veenture, it was impossible to me some time ago just watch at others shaped guitars other than Fenders,but now I'm goin' insane about those"outrageus" shape and a vey different sound than I was used to,it's a sort of..madness,my "oldies" Fenders are sleepin' since that,sorry babies!

Hey Bruno, I understand what you are saying. The good thing about these 'fancy' guitars is the really friendly price!!!
You can't much go wrong with that so next time I see one in a shop I may want to have to try it out for sound!

that is quite funny, cause it is almost the same with me and the old fender design (which is without a dout great).

A few years back I was a strat player, sometimes tele - nowadays I'm a big off-set waist design-fender fan and also love "stranger" or let's name it more different looking guitars. It is also funny, how much the eye gets used to some designs. When I considered Mosrite style guitars as strange looking things in the past , I find them to be one of the most beautiful design nowadays.

The Galanti is an extremely cool axe, but needs still some work. It is exactly how people have written in harmony central. the circuit seems to be bad and tone-sucking. I have to rewire before I can judge on sound. I haven't spent too much time with her so far.

THis is one big disadvantage when you own too many guitars. You don't spend enough time with most of them ...

For surf I enjoy my JM/Jag + Custom 60. I always decide between these 3, depending on mood and the soundcheck. I love all of them.
