Re: More Videos of my "Gruggett Stradette" Guitar - 2 - 3 - 2010
Hey, Geoff--
Fascinating. I also like the info you provide in the comments portion of your videos on YouTube.
The Blue Martian Gruggett Stradette looks different in several ways compared to the new Stradette I got from Bob Shade at Hallmark last year. Very nice, too!!!
Since I am a big fan of Bakersfield country music and play (at) it a lot, I am proud of the connection that this guitar and the Hallmark H60C have with Bakersfield (via Greenbelt, Maryland). My band friends have asked me to bring my Stradette to practice tonight, and one fellow loves it and the other has never seen it. He was amazed by the H60C last week; I bet he loves the Stradette just as much.
The other guitar player actually prefers the Stradette over the H60C, though he wants at least one of each!!! He knew Bob Shade back in their high school days and always expected great things from him.
Does your Gruggett have the speed frets?
Thanks for sharing such great stuff!

Hi Jim,
Many Thanks for your reply,
This Gruggett doesn't have the speed frets but just regualr frets like any standard Fender, etc.
The actions a bit high but what does one expect for a guitar that old, etc.
It just needs alittle TLC,
It's an interesting Guitar for sure.
I got it back in 1976 when everybody around thought I was crazy for getting such a bizzarre werid guitar etc., when everybody else was getting Les Pauls, Strats and Gibson ES 335's, - Lol!
