Couple of Fender Amps

Postby ZacJM » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:57 pm

So I'm considering swapping my amp for one of these next weekend, the problem is that I have limited access to a car and if I make a choice on which to get, I gotta be sure its what I want. Of course I can actually test it when I go to pick it up, but I can't visit all three dealers before I make the decision.
Anyways here they are:
Fender Roc Pro 1000: http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/msg/2244792262.html
Fender Frontman 212R: http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/msg/2243942118.html
Fender 125W Princeton Chorus w/ Reverb: http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/msg/2209358205.html

Anyone have any experience with these amps, as far as how they sound and personal opinion of them?
I currently still have my Marshall and I guess I could have two amps, but I don't think I need two, so I'm thinking I'll sell it to help cover costs on one of those Fenders. I recently played through a Fender amp and forgot how great they sound, really want a new one, but I know nothing about amps in general and these, aside from the Front-man, seem to be older models that are no longer in production.

Much thanks for any info on these

OK, on the front of the chassis to the right, it tells us that this is a MOS-FET Series 100 watt Combo. Somewhere
on the backside of the chassis (most likely on the right side as well), there should be a model number displayed.
BTW, is she a 112 or 212 configuration?
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

It's a 1x12. If you like the Fender better than get the 2x12 Frountman or save up and get a used Twin Reverb I've seen these for less than a used DR or PR.

Zac, It's a Model 5100......After re-reading your first post.....
.....Questions to ask yourself.....

1) Why am I getting rid of my amp?
2) Do I recall the Fender model amp that I liked playing through:shock: ?
3) Do I HAVE to choose between these 3 amps? Are these my only choices?
4) Why am I putting pressure on myself to make such a hasty decision?

FWIW......
A) The Roc Pro 1000 had some kind of circuit design flaw and was discontinued shortly after.
B) The Frontman 212R (FM 212 R) is still a CURRENT and very popular model which is made in China.
C) 125 watt Princeton Chorus w/ Reverb is a nice sounding clean SS amp, but the distortion was kind of disappointing.
But just to let you know, it's bi-amped. From what I was told, it is a 1 - 25 watt amp for each speaker, so it is not the
125 watt amp that a lot of folks thought.....another words - 50w total.
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Hey thanks for in the info Dennis!
The pressure was more due to the fact that they were on craigslist which means they could be gone any day so better get them sooner than later.
I had a Fender Frontman, 25W, that was nice and I had played through some Fenders last time I was window shopping in Guitar Center. They were the only three options because of price, I can't put down alot on an amp past $200

I'm just looking on Dallas/FtWorth craiglist and thats all there is in terms of Fenders right now

I'll keep the Marshall, probably get a Fender some other day. Due to their price, thought I'd see if they were a steal or not :)
