I think that I remember reading, that to get the distortion that he wanted, he punched holes in his Gibson Amp speakers with a pencil!

Ha yes!

Rumble and Tail dragger were on a guitar compilation from my Dad's record collection.
I have a best of some place, need to put it on my computer as I'm not familiar with any of his other material.

It took boldness and creativity to take a razor blade to speaker cones, back then. Link was about as hip as was humanly possible.

Big, big respect for a true guitarist's guitarist.

Saw Link 14 times from 97 till his passing. Got to hang out with him for about an hour and a half after a show at the Abbey Pub in Chicago, took lots of photos of him at those shows and even got a couple with him. I have to say he is my fav player, along with Johnny and Dick Dale, I'll post at length about meeting him when I have time. I will say that he was an incredibly nice, gracious man, and pretty funny too. If you get a chance, go to www.wraysshack3tracks.com tons of great photos(some of mine too in the shows section, some wrongly credited to someone else) and history there.

I read that Rumble was made up one night, because someone in the crowd requested the Stroll and they didn't know how to play it, so they made up something that had the same beat.

Great photos from Deke's site. I still have my Supro Dual Tone!
