I had heard Davie has been looking for it but it has never turned up. Well, the owner had it in storage since 1971! He wants to sell it now and DA's fans want to chip in some bucks so Davie can buy it back. It's on consignment at Subway Guitars in Berkeley, CA. I recall an interview where DA stated he regretted selling the guitar, and would like another one, but they are too expensive.

Did Davie play a Red Doubleneck, or was it Blue?

It's from the estate of Leo Krebs, a long time collector who got the guitar from DA. This is one of many guitars being sold on consignment thru Subway for the Krebs estate. I never saw a color photo of Davie's guitar, but apparently it is metallic blue (which makes sense, because his Ventures model was also blue, and the bass player has a blue Mo' Bass, as seen in the clip from the TV series "The Invaders".)
