I'd be interested in compiling a list of famous Mosrite players and which models they played.
A few that I can think of off the top of my head:
Joe Maphis - signature model, doubleneck
The Ventures - signature models, combos, guitar and bass
Davie Allen - double neck
John Entwhistle - Ventures model bass
Strawberry Alarm Clock - custom model guitars and bass
Iron Butterfly - Ventures model guitar and bass
B-52s - Ventures II model guitar
Johnny Ramone - signature model
Kurt Cobain - Gospel guitar
others?

Then there's Takeshi Terauchi and Yuzo Kayama from Japan. Also the "M" Ventures.

The guy in Iron Butterfly was Eric Brann. I met him years ago. The famous "Inna Gadda Davida" riff was played with a Mosrite Ventures model. That whole psychedelic album was recorded with the same guitar. There were two subjects he wanted to talk music about, and he had great passion for: he claimed he was on a steep learning curve to push his own boundaries of music and was deep into modes and chord relationships--and recommended any guitarist to study the modes and tonal relationships (he was saying this long before Joe Satriani or any of those guys were on the scene), and his love of Mosrite guitars! Unfortunately, Eric is no longer with us here on earth, but he was such a positive personality.
Anyway, thought I'd bring this up.
Another Mosrite player who deserves mention is Garrett Immel from The Ghastly Ones. Not famous but a darn good player/composer. From California (or course, where else?).
Mel, you guys on the west coast definitely have a scene going on that does not exist elsewhere in the US.

From what I understand he builds his own Mosrite copies.
No one mentioned Takeshi Terauchi's rival, Yuzo Kayama...

And...not really "famous"...well...depends who you ask, I guess...haha
