What are you listening to?

Postby vjf1968 » Sat Dec 19, 2009 12:47 pm

As the snow piles up outside here in Northeast Philly I sit here and type while listening to The Ventures Christmas Album. Maybe after that I will listen to the rest of Then Beatles In Mono box set. What are you doing on the fine December afternoon?

Here in snowed-in Washington, DC, I am listening to some old-time radio shows: Some Jack Benny shows, alternating with Dragnet and . . . Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar!

It is great to listen to such stuff when playing a NEW (to me) MOSRITE CELEBRITY! I had planned to drive over to Bob Shade's stately mansion to show the new guitar to him, but that will have to wait until the roads have been plowed.

By the way, thanks much to Dennis the Menace, one of our ace forum moderators, for a fast, fun, and totally above-board transaction on the Celebrity. Dennis, like me, tends to over-criticize what he is selling, but that makes for a pleasant surprise when the FedEx man arrives.

This is a lovely guitar and I am so lucky to have it. Thanks, Dennis!!!

Hey, DtM ... How was the TSO Christmas show? Missed them this year, but got the cd "Night Castle". It was much 'darker' than their other Christmas shows ... more into their "metal" genre ... Just checking to see how you thought it was, live.

At the moment, Ten Feet Tall by XTC. I'm listening to the Drums & Wires version, Not the Rag & Bone Buffet (Single) Version which is different.

Hi, it's Sunday morning and I'm listening to the Original Surfaris 'Surfari' record right now, a present I got from Mike Lucas bass player of the Phantom Surfers when he went to play here in Sardinia two years ago :)

Yesterday was a little birthday gathering for my roommate. We listened to a variety of CD's during the course of the afternoon and evening. Today, I'll be rewriting a couple of songs and have some lyrics that are bugging me a little. Who knows, maybe a new song will jump into my head as well. Tonight I'll meet some local musicians at a coffee shop near our house and do a little jamming with them.

I only got to see them in '06 and '07, and they were totally unbelievable :o ! I just got 'Night Castle' as well although I haven't had a chance to listen to it as of yet  ,
but I'm sure I will like it just like their other CDs. I had heard that their 'Light Show' is even bigger and better than '07 , which is kind of weird to me because
their 'Light Show' which I did see in '07, made Disney's 'Main Street Light Show/Parade' look as though Disney was running on Candle Power  ........

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone that has never seen TSO.....GO SEE THEM! You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
Tha Age Range is from 6 years of age to 81 (last documented). Just to give you a Sampler.......

Could we turn this into a daily topic or something like that?

If so, "No Thugs In Our House" Also by XTC.
