Found this Ventures album for sale on ebay, "Live In Korea". Now I'm wondering whether it is another one of those "trick-live" releases or indeed a genuine live performance by the band in Korea, in which case the tracks on the album would be quite unique! I have my doubts though… :?

Does anyone happen to know more about it -does the cover indeed say "Live In Korea" ...in Korean print?
(Note: some of the tracks on this Korean album do NOT appear on the infamous 'live' album "The Ventures On Stage" -with similar cover design). Thanks for looking.

I don't know about the Ventures playing in Korea, but the photos on this album are the same ones used in the Ventures On Stage.....

Odds are it's a bootleg Paul . Still collectable in it's own way.

Reading the Ventures book, the section on bootlegging page 183,courtesy of the Amazon.com website; it seems most likely it's been made using the sleeve pictures off another album . The tracks look like songs that they actually did perform , which was not always the case apparently. But even then it might be they are tracks recorded by an asian band , or just tracks duplicated from existing records .

No copyright back then for that part of the World ,even Italy, much closer to home , was renowned for issuing bootleg albums .. I've got a great Chuck Berry album, great sleeve and liner notes , that sounds like it was recorded from the back of the hall , did Chuck ever play Italy ? If so then someone taped it.

We need someone from Korea really. I'm sure that they became expert at copying/forging products, peaking during the eighties and nineties ...from Bill Gates's latest software through perfume to brake pads .. they made it all !

Rog43win and juan_10 thanks very much for your insights guys. Whatever the contents of the album may be -and assuming it actually is by the Ventures themselves, then indeed it will most probably be material that has been released previously elsewhere in the world.
A bootleg of a Korean concert by the Ventures would be very interesting to listen to though; I noticed a number of titles on the cover which have never been played live, as far as I know :?

I say get it whatever it is. My guess is studio tracks with added applause track (hopefully in Korean) Seems like early 60's tracks except for Hawaii 5-0 which is puzzling.

It was a bootleg LP made in Korea probably in 70's. Look at the way they spelled "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" But it's better than "Candy Dancer" ("Gandy Dancer") or the worst; "Love position No. 9" (Love potion No. 9)

Thanks Vincent! I won't buy the album...considering what I know now :D ...no use in duplicating sound files that I already have in my music collection.
