This is the best original video of the original line up, when they were at their best, playing early white Mosrites with the adjustment nut at the heel of the neck and Mel Taylor playing a basic Gretsch set of drums

Hah, neat. It's amazing what turns up on YouTube. I love how they all look like they're having a blast. Diamond Head is still my favorite song from them

Yeah, This was probably one of their best TV exposures during their prime......

Does anyone have the other footage of them on TV? When they were inducted into the hall of fame there was a clip where they were guessing how many albums they sold or something like that. Great video, the one with Caravan is great also

Of all of their musical output, I like to remember them best when I hear the album, or CD titled "SURFING". I listened to it last night, pre-sleep using headphones that have titanium elements so that the sound is superb and full. The headphones rest on my ears as I don't like headphones that surround my ears. Or, I wait until my wife is out doing her thing in NYC and I listen to "SURFING" on my stereo with also superb speakers (Infinity RS 6b, modified with a vent tube and a heavy-duty woofer). I crank the volume up, close my eyes and I'm riding the waves!)
When you hear "The Ninth Wave," and the "struggling" beginning to "Party In Laguna" and you hear that massive, "woody" sound that only a Mosrite pickup can make, you are in seventh heaven and nothing or no one can follow the session.
I picked an easy tune to learn the bass to and that was "Windy & Warm" and when I learned it well enough to play along with the record (before CDs) I could swear I levitated and came down in slow motion!

Thank you so much for the video; it captured the essence of The Ventures at their (what this picker considers) peak.
And yes, the "Surfing" album is the personal Ventures album, as well.
