wow............that is impressive! Just a little over-use of the tremolo bar, toward the end, tipped it off that it wasn't the Ventures, lol........but they are really good.......... ;) nice find, Paul!

It's really good to know that after the original group is forgoten, that their music will not be,and the younger generation does appreciate the sound of the Ventures wich started with two guy's that had it together back in the day. You know what I'm trying to say? some times what I'm trying to say doesn't come out rite

What I like most about these bands is that all the players are paying attention to the original material - it's not just a Nokie sound alike over some generic players, but the drummers, bass players, and rhythm players nailing it too. Don Wilson's strumming style in particular would seem easy to overlook since, "hey, it's just rhythm guitar, right?", but these guys get it and it makes the difference, at least to me!

Good point on Don's rhythm style. Too often, a bands' success is mistakenly "hereoed" in on one person, when in fact it is the magic of the combination of talents that has made the success. Don, Bob, Mel, and Nokie were a magical union of talents that fortunately has endured over all these years, thanks to the talents of artists like Gerry McGee, who assumed the vacant lead position, and carved his own rightful place in the history of the Ventures. All disputes aside, the history of the Ventures is what it is, and we as fans appreciate all of it because of the timeless music they created... My apologies in advance if I have "hijacked" the direction of this thread, but I feel that too often we forget that music is first art, an entity unto itself, and secondly, a distant second, the people who create it... The recreation these artists have put together in copying the Ventures' music is an honorable testimony to that art.
