Sorry to hear of your loss. An old adage states, "A shared sorrow is half a sorrow; a shared joy twice the joy." Always saddened to hear of someone from "the greatest generation" passing.

And again-
Thanks.
Kind words go a long way in taking some of the loneliness and grief away.

I share your sorrow elnjay. I lost my dad several yrs, ago. He too, was a decorated WWII veteran. I fear this country may never see men like that again. RIP Cpl Jenkins.

Thank You.
That generation and it's outlook, values, and resolve are soon to be a part of History, so few are left.
My Dad was called "Gramps" by his squad because he was -- 30 years old! -- at the time of his service overseas, wherein most of the others were 19-22 years old...
And SO many of them never returned from Combat; over 90% of his original group was lost in Battles throughout their campaigns. Dad was a survivor in many ways.
It was a blessing that he lived as long as he did, most of his time in relatively good health, at least not losing his faculties, and being of sound mind while he was alive.
I'd trade everything I own for one more day to talk with him again, that can't happen of course.
But we CAN keep our departed loved ones close to us, in our hearts and in our memories, and through us, especially the Children, they can NEVER be gone.
I hope he's with his Late Wife, and my Mother, Pearl- I hope he's at peace.
I'd finally like to say that when I had asked him about his feelings, experiences, and such concerning his overwhelming Combat experiences, including D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, and so many other trials-
He told me:
"I always believed that a Man's Purpose in Life is to Create; not destroy."
Wow, Dad.
Rest in Peace Dad, it's been a week.
I Miss You.
