I think the safety systems did a great job of putting out the fire. It's unfortunate all of the people involved had their vacation ruined. But hey, it turned out better than the Titanic!
I agree with you 100% Sarah ;) . As uncomfortable and unfortunate as it was for the Carnival passengers and crew....
I'd prefer being on a Cruise ship that loses power rather than lose power at 30,000 feet up in the air  .

Sarah, Dennis, a point well taken.
Of course, accidents will happen and sometimes can be (and indeed often are) a mere doorstep away but I find the thought of any one of these 'mobile cities' taking a plunge, to be most unsettling; such an enormous scale of loss of human life in just one go. And that goes for the Airbus A380 too, the largest passenger plane to date. But then I do travel on boats and planes too ;)

They built those ships over here in Finland. In my previous jobs I have been in close contact with all of the Finnish shipyards, and when I was still studying I worked at Helsinki New Shipyard.

I used to visit all of the luxury cruisers when they were nearly finished, but haven't done that in a long time. I have visited a couple of the "**** of the Seas" ships. Very nice if you like that kind of thing. I myself prefer diving for a sea experience, and swimming in the real sea instead of a pool.

...and no, I don't get seasick - this depends on what and how much you drink, howewer... ;)
This concludes my report from outer space. Now, back to studio!
