Re: Demographic survey
60. Though unlike the expectations for my demographic, I came into the Mosrite dimension inspired primarily by Fred Smith (thanks to a near-Detroit teenage location), and I was awed when Johnny R stepped out with his Mk II--by the time that happened (around the time I bought my good old Mk I) Mosrite had almost gone the way of the dinosaurs, at least as far as public presence. Now the first 45 I ever bought for myself was "Perfidia," but at the time I was a little kid and knew not of the Mosrite and never knew much more about the Ventures until I started hanging out here. Still gigging, performing original music, and learning more about guitar and drums (my main instrument) daily, while doing various other arty things as well, not to mention 40 hrs/wk in my dayjob.
Some folks may be reluctant to post in this survey because of the angle about planning the future of the forum...I'm sure the intention is good but I'm still a little wary that my interests may be presumed from my age. The postings reflect a serious and cool disconnect between chronological age and what forumites are actually doing in their lives. It may be skewed older but it feels much younger.

Re: Demographic survey
I am 57, born in 1955, the year that the most American automobiles were sold in previous history. My parents told me they used to warm my bottles on the exhaust manifold of their '54 Ford Mainline! I'm sure that's why I have always had an interest in cars from the '50s.
As far as guitars, when I was around age 16, I used to go camping with my best friend, he played guitar and would bring it along on camping trips. We'd sit around the campfire at night, and girls would come by and listen. I told him he had to teach me how to play to, so I bought a Japanese Lyle copy of a Gibson Dove (He had a Lyle Hummingbird). So, we'd both sit there and play country/country rock and the girls would stop by and listen. Unfortunatley it never got me anywhere with the girls but it was fun. My Idol (John Fogerty) had a blonde Telecaster, so I bought a '72 blonde Telecaster used in '73 and still managed to hang on to it. Early on got into Surf instrumentals too, therefore was introduced to Mosrites and bought my first one which was an early '70's Mark 1 (?) S/B in the early '80's for $335.00 then sold it about 10 years later for $550.00 to get some cash to buy a "71 Javelin. Man, wish I had that Mosrite again.

Re: Demographic survey
The distribution showing the 50-59 as the largest group makes sense. I don't think I'm going out on a limb to say that Ventures fans were the biggest market for Mosrites. Yes there are many exceptions on this list. A number of forum members may have never been into the Ventures and got into Mosrites via The Ramones, or Nirvana. That pulls the median age group here down from the 60-69 range. The strictly Ventures based forum, Underground Fire, is squarely centered in the 60-69 group. -Marty

Re: Demographic survey
This is an old poll and I bet a number of those that were in there later 50's (like me) are now in there 60's.
