Swedish proverb

Postby GattonFan » Wed Jun 15, 2011 6:42 am

... says, "Shared sorrow is half a sorrow, shared joy is twice the joy". I lost my mother yesterday around noon, and I'm sure that some of you have been down this road. Thankfully, she didin't struggle, and was lucid and coherent up until her passing. She was a great, gentle lady - and I'll miss her tremendously.

Dennis I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I do know exactly how that feels as my father passed two years ago. My prayers are with you and your family.

Grieving is a strange thing, we go through stages with it, and each one is important. It will be easier when you realize she is in a better place now. Life is a journey of learning, and we are at the age where we begin to learn about leaving. It sounds as though she lived a good long life; one for which you are truly thankful.

Dennis, my parents taught me that same 'Swedish proverb' too...only it was in Dutch. Both my parents are deceased but I think of them regularly, as if they're 'just away from home'. Sorry to hear of your mother's passing, my sincere condolences, also.

Dennis, I am so sorry to hear the news about your mother. My mom died one year ago this week. I still think of her every day. Just know that the pain will slowly change to the joy of your memories of her. My condolences to you and your family.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. I too lost my mother in 2008. Just last night I found a video taken of my son playing at Buck Owens Crystal Palace, and during the 30 minute video there was short segment of me dancing with my mother to the song 'He Stopped Loving Her Today'. She loved that song as my brother use to sing it. Although it brought a tear to me eyes it also brought a warm feeling in my heart and a smile when I saw her waving to her grandson on stage. R.I.P. Mother!

My condolences also. My mother is still here but I lost my father many years ago.
Although she is gone just remember that no one can take the fond memories you have.
