They'd rather have us playing composite guitars made from Wyoming flax-straw?

The Wall Street Journal made the comparison between the ebony, rosewood, etc., to blood diamonds! Where has old-fashioned sensibility gone??? Shut some more factories down, so countries without such idiocy can manufacture the products. I think I'm living in the movie "Idiocracy".

Most people see the harm done by this country becoming overly litigious, but it takes something like this to make us realize that the money spent by some pressure groups results in some truly inane behaviors sometimes.

Not a sermon; just an observation.

Actually, it was Peter Lowry from The Missouri Botanical Garden that made the comparison. WSJ was just reporting what he said.

It will be interesting to see how much the market for high end , celebrity/activist owned guitars, vintage and others, drops when they feel the need to rid themselves of this "contraband". I'm sure it won't drop a bit

They're probably just punishing Gibson for some of the models they've released lately.

Here's the thing I don't get - if other manufacturers manage to make high quality, toneful guitars using sustainable wood, how is it an imposition on Gibson to do the same? It's not an added burden they alone in the industry face, and it seems they have to go out of their way to get the unsustainable kind, let alone risking Federal action.

Instead of focusing on illicit tonewood they should make some pickups that sound half decent. ;)
