Spammers

Due to being hammered daily with numerous spammers attempting to register on this forum, It has now become necessary to disable the open registration feature. No longer will a person be able to simply register and access the forum.

At the top of each forum on this web site there is an announcement about this process. This is most unfortunate but I spend a great deal of time daily weeding through all the spammers BS trying to determine a legitimate account from spam. I know longer have the patience or desire to deal with these people. Most are automated robot spam registering. Although we have security in place to prevent this, currently the automated robots have gained access around the security. I do not have the technical ability to upgrade our website to any of the various new spam blockers for fear of crashing the website and loosing everything we've accumulated to date.

It really stinks that those spammers kill the fun for people that actually want to join a forum to share their passion and love for Mosrite guitars and guitars in general. I commend you Danny, Dennis and Mel for helping make this a community that we can all share and enjoy without the interference of spammers.

Danny, I think that anyone wanting to join this Forum, will have no problem being patient in joining, and will wait for the right time to jump
in here when the word is given. These Folks already know that there is a lot of BS going on with different Forums, etc..... ;)

Just to point out, the credit on this goes to Danny as the sole administrator. Dennis and I are moderators, so Danny's been dealing with all this crap solo. I agree, we'll work through with, and with clear directions on the new registration method available, I don't think it will deter fans from joining.

Today is the first day in three weeks I haven't turned on the computer and found anywhere from two to twenty spammers trying to register on the forum. Unfortunately no good guy's had sent me an email wanting to register either.

I have a feeling this is going to take away from new members wanting to join. However we do have a large amount of folks that have registered, posted once and never returned. I think they join just to activate their account so that the 'cookie' system will work showing new posts since their last visit.

Danny' I for one can't say enough about the great forum you have provided to all of us. Anyone with any kind of intrest in Mosrite guitars will wait to get registered if it means no spammers. There isn't another forum out there in cyber space that has members that can express there thoughts as we do here without getting jumped on by some of the other members. This place is the BEST and I THANK you for it.

Jim

ps: I don't post that much but I am on here 3 or 4 times a day.
