Groovy grip!

Hey you project builders, guess what! …decided to make my first modification on my Hallmark today…
just a simple cosmetic thing really but practical too! There’s no harm in trying it out yourself because it can always be made undone again. Thought I’d just share it with you:

Now, my Hallmark is equipped with those “lathed” type volume and tone knobs -with two grooves per knob. I find these grooves quite intriguing and today I had a luminous idea to fill them with …rubber washers! (ever see a door stopper with similarities?)
The traction you now get is unbelievable! Out of my ‘collection’ of all kinds of stuff I found just one suitable washer (see pic)...now to try and find three more (thickness: 1.5 mm.) Perhaps bevelled washers are more suitable.

Now I’m wondering if the knobs were ever designed to have just such rubber washers!

I've seen rubber O rings used before. Get them in the plumbing section at your local hardware store

Hey Danny, my local harware mart sells 'em in packets of 5 in their plumbing section. They're identical to the rubber washer I already had! (O rings would've been better but I couldn't find any suitable ones).

The knobs are both nicely 'dressed up' now -I find it super cool and functional too!

And now I remember too where I got the idea from...: one of the hotel rooms I stayed in recently in New Zealand had this door key with a large pear-shaped weight attached to it.
The large rubber rings on it prevented it from making banging noises when using it on the door!

Some of the Vox Guitars had such 'O Rings' on their guitars back in the mid to late 60's,
but I'll be darn if I can find them now, now that I'm looking for them......
