you could try getting a can of shielding paint from stew mac. apply at least 3 coats everywhere inside the guitar cavity. I find that a foam brush works far easier then a bristle brush. then run a metal screw inside the cavity and connect a wire to it and then solder that to your guitar ground. make sure you drill a pilot hole first and make sure you wont be drilling through anything so the screw sticks outside the cavity.
Yikes!!
This does really help. (the shielding paint part, not the drilling through your guitar part, lol)

But first obviously you want to check all your wires, pedals, and outlets you are plugged into. could even be a fuse starting to go bad inside your amp. I live in an old house (1753!!!) with old wiring and I've had problems with all of the above from time to time. make sure the outlet you are using is properly grounded, etc. even if I have too many lights on in the house that can be an issue once in a while.
After that, my guess would be waxing the pickups maybe, but I think hallmark already wax them, but I could be wrong.
I also use a "Hum-X" adapter I hook to my pedal board to reduce noise. since I bought it, I've had far fewer issues with hum on that end.

hope this helps.
Cheers,
Aaron

Hallmark Pickups are already potted with wax. That is one of the differences in tone from Mosrite Pickups. Wax Potting dulls the high end a little to my ear. My Hallmark is not as bright as my Mosrites, I can compensate with the Amp EQ. The Pickups are High Output Single Coils, they will be noisy be nature.

The Hallmark pickups that I have don't have any noise what so ever. I'm happy with mine but like others have mentioned, check all the connections and equipment (amp, pedals, cords etc.) make sure everything is connected properly.

I live in an old house too, with very crappy wiring. I have had no noise problems at all with my Hallmark, unless I sit right in front of my computer. If yours is that bad, I'm thinking maybe something is wrong. Maybe you should run it over to Maryland and have Bob Shade check it out....

Hi vjf1968,

I don't know this is good to you or not, I did the MOD to the 60Custom especially against a noise. As you know, the normal shielding cable is not good so much. You had better replace with more better one like the image. The cable bridged between two pots is made by Audiotechnica, to avoid the voltage difference at ground level. In general, it is important to separate signal ground from body ground. You had better reduce the contact point between them as possible as you can. The two ground line should be connected around the output jack( although I didn't do so in the image).

My computer did not show Arpsum’s image. I used the pic’s properties to gain access to the picture on internet and utilised my Photobucket account to post it here for those who couldn’t see it either on Arpsum’s post. Voila:

Hi Veenture, what a kind man you are! I also recognized the photo problem, but I couldn't find what was wrong. Thanks again! arpsum
