80's roller bridge

hey guys,

just wondering for the peeps that have the 80's version of the mosrite bridge on your guitars, how would you compare them to the earlier versions? does the bar that reaches across the back of the bridge really solves the problem with any saddle buzzing? any other noticeable differences?

The roller bridges I have don't rattle. What I found make them really solid is using Hallmark saddles - the intonation screw sits a touch higher than the Mosrite screws, so there's even more leverage to hold the saddles down.

Functionally the biggest difference I've noticed between the 60s and 80s bridges is the radius - the 80s ones are much flatter, closer to the radius of the neck. Works for me. If you've got the 80s posts you could also lock down the bridge to the vibrato, but I haven't done that, as it works fine rocking.

Do you have an 80s bridge or are you looking for one?

I am looking for one, along with an 80's backplate. but i started this thread really just because it hasn't been discussed much I don't think. is there a difference between the saddles that were put on the bridges semie put out and the late 80's partsrites that seem to pop up here and there? from my understanding is the saddles on these were crummy compared to the earlier versions i think.

That's an interesting one. Since I've never seen one on a Celebrity I wasn't even aware of it. Jeez, I have so much to learn!

That makes sense then. I think the very last "Celebrity" based guitar made might just be Adam's 1977 Gospel.

what I'm not sure about, is the flat versions might be from parts thrown together after semie's death. I'm no expert in the matter, but I think there may have been a lot of this coming from the mosrite of canada deal.

The most of the partsrites, mine included, come from the Canadian cache of parts from after Mosrite closed. The bodies and necks are often stamped "C93".

There are two versions of the saddles that I've seen, the ones like in the picture above with the parallel rollers and some with the same rollers but angled. The stock rollers work fine, but you can also swap them out for the Hallmark saddles or the saddles from that Jazzmaster/Mosrite replacement bridge that keeps popping up on ebay. I put Hallmark saddles on mine. I had to rethread them but they work like a charm, and since the thread hole is a tad higher than the Mosrite ones they don't rattle side to side at all.

+1 on Mel's comments. I did the same on my Canadian PartsRite Nokie model. The lock down was an improvement, as were the threaded bridge posts. Tightens everything up ...
