Discussion about cases/gigbags for Mosrites

Postby Chemo » Wed Dec 29, 2010 4:17 am

Hi,

I guess many of us have spent some time looking for cases for our beloved Mosrites. A Ventures model really doesn't fit in guitar cases that are made for the most usual guitar types.

I have one hard case for my Ranger, and have used the same case for my latest Mosrite (the white Ventures model). I thought that it should have a case of its own too, just like all my guitars do. I am often traveling light nowadays - I just bring an amp, my pedalcase and only one guitar. Therefore, if I could carry the guitar in my back, I could carry everything at once.

I already had two different Mosrite gigbags, but they are way too lightweight stuff. So I came up with a Monocase - and to my big surprise, Mosrite Ventures fit right in the standard electric guitar case. So, if I ever need to travel with a Stratocaster or Les Paul, and want to use this instead of their hard cases, they will fit too.

The Monocase was a bit pricey, yes. But I must say it is a very, very nice guitar bag. It absolutely cannot be compared in any way to the inexpensive gig bags; it is a completely different product. So this should be compared to hard cases, really. It is more convenient to carry, and the pockets are well designed and very useful. The only technical difference would be that I would not put the Monocase in the bottom of the instrument case pile in the car.

This concludes my report from outer space. Now, back to studio!

Looks like quality! The one that fits two guitars looks very interesting.
I'm looking for a case to fit the Mosrite-ish guitar that Oigun is buiding for me.

Does anyone know of a case that will fit a Joe Maphis/Combo?

You mean to tell me a Mosrite Ventures model (or Hallmark 60's Custom) will fit in a standard Mono Case?

Yes! Or at least mine did.

I have been thinking of getting the double one for gigs but from the look of the measurements it does not look like a Hallmark would fit. This is what sucks when you can't try before you buy. Convincing my wife to let me spend over $275 for a gig bag is a tall order.

Here's two pics. The guitar is a Japanese Mosrite Ventures, and the bag is a Monocase M80 Electric Guitar Case, the standard one.

That's nice to know! I started a thread last year on this forum after I got my Hallmark 60 Custom, as the hardshell Hallmark case is pretty heavy, a very nice case, but it was tough for me to lug it around for everyday use. I wound up getting a Japanese Mosrite-branded gig bag from Front Porch Music in Bakersfield--it's a lot lighter, but certainly not as protective (and I didn't expect it to be--I just needed something to carry the guitar in without killing my back). That Mono case looks to be a little more solid than my Mosrite gig bag. Now, if only SKB or Gator would make a nice molded case to fit a Mosrite/Hallmark...
