Hey Ludobag,

Thanks for the tips!
I don't have a proper router setup, just a Dremel with the Router and Table attachments.
But it should do the job.

Just waiting for a weekend with good weather (I have to work outside).

Nice job! I've always thought emplates are not that useful to me because I never seem to build the same thing twice... I think even for a one-off though, it probably ensures a better finished product. I will give it a shot and see if it doesn't end up being less work than making a pickguard by hand...

templating is the longer job but if you do a master in mdf 3 mm it is really fast ,then you can copy it on mdf more thick like 10 mm or 25 mm
and you have a working template at right size ready to the job
like that ten minutes to cut it rought after you work on the 3 mm to have good size, clean curve, ect.. 30 mn in fact cause with 80 grit it is very fast and after you copy it in the 10 mm and you have a nice template ready to work with straight edge

if you go from scracth it will be more long and the risk of error is bigger ;)
template in mdf have short live if you want more longer life they need to be in plexiglass or aluminium or steel (but it is a very long work :? )
the only way to have always a good template is not using the master for work but copy

I made my templates purely because I wanted to see if the design was something that I could live with, before I wasted money on chopping up a piece of guard.

Blank pick guard material needs to be sourced from USA or elsewhere, so it costs postage and time.
