Thanks everyone Dubtrub, I am using the Reranch sunburst system but all the clear is Deft nitro. So far I've used 2 cans of Deft sand sealer and 4 cans of Deft clear. The coats are pretty thin. I learned that on other guitars the hard way and had to re shoot the clear after wet sanding through
The guitar looks great! I'm curious, how thick a stripe of black did you use? I used ReRanch on my partsrite and I had trouble getting a smooth transition from black to red - in certain light conditions you could see where the black ends no matter how much red/brown I used. I think their yellow and red/brown are extremely forgiving and easy to use, but I found the black more difficult.
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. Mel

I think that is prob. normal for Reranch. I left a 3/4 inch , at least, black edge and then used a LOT of brown and still under certain lighting you can see the transition line. I think there needs to be a small darker brown first then the brown stain don't you?

i use reranch and deft myself. for me personally once you are ready for clear coating, I would spray 20-25 coats so you know you won't sand through to the color coats. that way it gives you more room to work with to get your lacquer smooooooooth before the final buffing stage.
Took your advice ouipunkguy and shot 4 more cans of clear. Good advice Finally got around to making the fret board and neck Good book!!!slotting jig BTW that was not an ADULT beverage in the pic!!! just a prop Time to PLAY
