update: well i was able to remove the fretboard no problem on the neck, but removing the truss rod was a wee bit more difficult. I had to pull the thing out using a pair of pylers bending it up badly. I've already ordered the new two way rod and i will reroute the truss rod channel and glue in new maple so I can cut the chamber properly. oh well.

on the body I'm still adding sanding sealer and sanding between coats. still debating on what shade of white to use....

Sounds good Aaron. I think you'll be much happier with a truss rod that actually works. I really like the two way truss rods or at least the double rod as used in a Mosrite. I usually make my own double rod, but either one will work fine.

Danny, you should do a thread on how to make two way truss rods. I know I would find it handy in the future.... :D :D :D :D :D

update on the mosrite project: i glued in maple into the truss rod channel using swell glue (poly) and clamped it down and let it set up. after drying I remove the excess glue with a chisel and trimmed off the excess wood with the band saw and then sanding the neck clean. here's what I got. once I get the new rod in I'll make measurements on the the new one before cutting the channel again. ugh.

meanwhile I made a new template of the pickguard and added the ground wires to the guitar for the body cavity shielding.

Looking good. Be sure and use some type of straight edge guide for that new truss rod slot. Don't want to have to go through that ordeal again.

Once these were attached I painted the inside of the cavities with shielding paint and covered the ground wires in painter's tape.

you said it Danny. I saw on that website "the accidental luthier" where the luthier cut the channel by turning the neck sideways to cut the channel, however that seems like that would only be possible before cutting out the basic shape of the neck. I will probably cut my truss rod channels using this method for now on. but for what I got now I figure I'll have to make a template to cut the channel, unless anyone has any better ideas?????
