What pups do you recommend?

So I'm building a clone with forummember Oigun (rather; he's building it, I'm doing the heavy breathing) and it's about time I'm ordering p'ups.
There seem to be several options, buy used Mosrites or these M3s look interesting. More options?
My question to you is; for a rockfan that likes it pretty loud, MC5 or Ramones kinda loud, that's looking for a versatile guitar, what pups would you recommend? I like a guitar to bite and drive the amp a bit when opened up, but to also clean up when turned down. What should I be looking for?

Is my face red? I totally skipped over Hallmark. Thanks for that JTR!
Anyone tried the M3s yet?
Would Hallmarks pups or M3s be better suited for loud rock'nroll?
Not the high gain stuff, just like a touch less than the Ramones-sound.
I'd like to retain the overall characeristics of the Mosrite guitar sound, but cranked...
Am I still making sense?

Hmmm... Both Hallmark and M3 can supply you with a set of hand wound pickups specific to your preferences.
It's a tough call. ;)

Yeah thanks for that... That's really helpful
Judging by your nick you would be into the same kind r'n'r as I am.
Johnny for the Ramones and Sonic for Fred Smith, right?
Which of the two options would YOU prefer and why?
Or would you opt for one set to get the Ramones scream and for another to get the MC5 roar?
Om det vore bättre jag fragade på svenska, kann jag försöka...

Olav. I use my Custom 60 for all type of music the standard hallmark pickups will handle all the sonic spectrum you want.

Impressive. ;)

You are absolutely right. The nick works well, my name being John anyways.
I'll try to answer to the best of my abilities!
If I had to chose, I'd probably go with Bob Shade and Hallmark because of the great communication with the customers and because they already make a Ramones model.
So I guess they'd have a better idea of what you're looking for. I bet they know about Fred Smith as well.
I wouldn't get two sets though. One should be enough. I use my Mosrite for both MC5 and Ramones. And It works great for both. :)

Thanks a lot JTR and JohnnyRamone, that helps.
The reason I asked is you hear a lot of talk about which pups are good for Blues, which for Metal, which for C&W.
I'm not talking Mosrite now, just guitars in general. Manufacturers of pups usually have sets for different styles of music.
I'm hoping to get my Mo'clone to look as genuine as possible, so correct looking pups are in order. I could easily go for a set of P90s but I fear you'd all have me on a rail out of town ;) Tarred and feathered like...
Oigun is putting a lot of energy in the building of this guitar, making a vibrato from scratch to name an example, so correct pups are a must.
I'll be looking in to Hallmarks pups (as well as M3s) and try to be a bit clearer on what I want before I order.

One last (really?) question; what would the readout for a SuperHot Mo' pup be? Be it original Mosrite, Hallmark or M3, what would the meter say? Approximately...

Don't forget that Ed Elliott makes p'ups, too.

Check out the demo.
