Thanks to this fine close-up of a pair of "duck feet"-tuners from a Celebrity Bass, one can clearly see that the 'toe' design is actually a carved out "M" for Mosrite -as in the typical Mosrite headstock end. In fact the key (button) is the exact shape of a mini headstock! :o

I'm sure many of you already knew this but it's another "first time" for me (never realised this before!) ...learning all the time; anyone else? ;)

BTW it's worth reading again what dubtrub wrote about them back in 2008:

That's a cool story and hope it has a happy ending. ;) Finding the 'duck's feet' tuner's is going to be difficult. They are scarce as hen's teeth. One good thing, if you ever do find one (or two) they can be changed to work for either side, so don't discard any that you find. Nobody makes a modern reproduction, but if they did, it would be a lucrative venture. I had a line on one but it has fallen through the slats. If I ever get the opportunity to buy one or more, I will jump on them.

I always wondered if those that called them 'Duckfeet' or 'Elephant Ear' tuners were oblivious to the fact that they are actually M's or if they knew it but were just joking around.

I remember the first time I saw one I noticed the M and the shape, cuz I'm an observant one. I always wondered why they were so big!

my first reactions to seeing these was "awww it's a lil mosrite, it's sooo cute!" lol. these things are too cool though. a part of me always wanted to see these on the guitars too. mosrite made everything else in shop ya know? so why not. 8-)
