Neck

I noticed I have a small bend in my neck for my Ramones Eastwood.

Its not the end of the world but I still notice it and once I notice something a miss on one of my guitars, I never forget about it.

I was thinking of getting a real true classic Mos neck. Ventures MkII neck, I just dont know if it would fit in right and look pretty much the same (if not better )

Eastwood was a bolt on neck and such so I dont see why it would be a huge problem.



Brings me to my 2nd question. Are getting these necks EZ? I saw a MK V neck on ebay but Im not bidding till I know I can use the thing and not get stuck with half a friggen Mos'

A vintage neck is probably too expensive and there's a good chance it won't fit. You might have one made for you, but you may end up paying more than the guitar is worth, those Eastwoods are pretty inexpensive, aren't they? I'm having a neck made right now for my '66 Maphis, pm me for details. Before that I sent it to someone who had it for a YEAR and didn't do a darn thing.

A Ventures II (MK II) Reissue Neck probably won't fit. A neck has to be snug in the neck pocket and a Mo neck could be just a bit too small for an Eastwood neck pocket. The screw holes might not line up right and also, Mosrite guitars have a 24.5" scale length and your Eastwood has a 24.75" scale length so if you replaced it with a Mo neck there would be some intonation problems. What do you mean by a small bend in the Eastwood's neck, Could you post some pics?

Its just a bow by the 5th fret. Not bad really, I can still play it and all.

That's most likely from the truss rod being a bit loose. Not an issue, Its adjustable. It doesn't take much to adjust it.

My opinion precisely...take the guitar to a good shop and ask if it can be set up, or if the problem requires more drastic surgery.

I have taken quite seriously bowed and twisted necks, removed the frets, straightened the neck as much as the truss rod will do, then re-planed the fretboard on my milling machine to remove the rest of the problem. Re-groove the fret cuts, refret, and make final adjustments to the neck. This can be done only so long as the fretboard, and the inlays have enough meat on them, and the material removal is not too severe. I did this with an Ibanez recently, and it ROCKED when I was done... Cosmetically, you had to really inspect closely to see that the fretboard was not the same thickness all the way along... Quite a bit of work, but definitely doable, and if the guitar means enough to you, it might just be worth considering.
