Best reference I've found is available on the Stewart Macdonald website in the book section... It goes into the selection of stains, base-coats, color coats, top coats, and how to apply them, buff them etc. and...yada yada... 8-)

I haven't been able to find Reranch in quite a while. I wonder if they are still in business.

I don't use spray cans as I have a spray rig, but last month when I did my Surf Green Jazzmaster I bought a can of their paint to get that particular color. They were still in business then. The ReRanch forum is still active. Lot's of good topics there especially for the do it yourselfer. http://reranch.com/reranch/

BTW, ReRanch paint is not available anywhere else. As I understand it, it is only sold by one person who has it packaged especially for him. He is also a full time musician and travels on tour quite a bit. You can only get the paint from the website when he's home from tour. It is expensive though. Fifteen dollars a can and ten dollars shipping. I can buy a gallon of nitro lacquer to do ten guitars for that same amount.

I'm currently reading all of the Re-ranch posts, and I purchased the Stewmac book. Maybe I won't screw it up to bad. My biggest problem is trying to speed things up.

I think I'm going to have to try a different browser. My IE8 doesn't want to open that site.
