My mother recently passed away and I have been going over to her house ever few days and clearing out items and hauling stuff to the Goodwill Donations Center. While gathering up a load today I notice several items packed in a large fruit jar with a familiar look to them. I have no idea where these items came from, possibly my brother's estate when he passed earlier in the year. I all most tossed these into the Goodwill box. At any rate my eyes lit up when I realized what they were, so I brought them home to photograph and share with you here on the forum. I haven't tested the pickups yet, but I know a fellow forumite that knows how to rewind them if need be.

Anybody have an idea what these tunners are for?

i'm sorry to hear about your recent losses, but wowie! that's a bonafide "mute" just waiting to be slapped on a "vibra." anyway, those are the japanese tuners semie was putting on some things in the '60s, such as my maphis doubleneck.

Bill, you can get both types of pickups directly from Ed Elliot. They are made with Mosrite parts by the Mosrite employee who made them for the factory.

What about the clear volume knob with the chrome disc in the middle. Is that the same knob as on Bob K's mistake plate Joe Maphis guitar? It sure looks like it to me.

Danny, I believe that knob, the sidejack, and the 2 Pick Ups with no logo
are from a '63 or a VERY EARLY '64....BTW, I PM'd you......
p.s Those Japanese Tuners are also on my '72-'73 Celebrity III.

I just checked the pup's. Both the non logo register's slightly over 13K and the logo's register's 10.5K and 11K.

Look's like I'm going to have to build or restore more guitars.

u found 4 pups, funny thats exactly what a double neck would take. I suggest a 66

Brutus, I'm guessing that the p'ups are actually from 2 different guitars. One pair of p'ups have the Mosrite Logo stamped on them......and the others??.....Don't! Which is telling us they are from an earlier period......

yes i assumed they where from different guitars/models. i just thought if Danny was debating about building a double-neck then finds 4 pickups its like a divine sign or something. I suppose putting them on a correct body would be the smartest thing.

Well, I have to tell you guy's I suddenly have many options before me. I still have an extra set of Hallmark pickup's also. I could put a set of the Mosrite pup's in my custom clone with the Hallmarks, but I like the variety of the two different sounds. So, I'll just sit back and give it some thought before making any decisions. Also a custom clone of an early '59 -'62 side jack Joe Maphis sounds interesting but so does a clone of Damon's double neck minus the 'Bobby' pickguard.

No rush, I still have to finish my Mosrite clone bass.
