Lets Build One!

Postby KRamone27 » Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:00 am

I mentioned in the Uh Oh! thread that I caught the Mosrite bug again. So yesterday after I had some food in my belly I went to work on the new side profile template for my necks. I started off with a drawing I found online, saved it on a sd card and took it to the local print shop to have it blown to scale. When it was blown up it was pretty "blocky" so I pulled out my measuring tape, digital caliper and pen to see if I straighten up the lines and get it close and once I start making the hard templates I can perfect everything then.

Great turkey! Where do you found those plans? I've never seen them and like to take a look!

Looking forward to you build!

It's nothing special really just something I found doing an image search of a mosrite pdf. I found another one as well and I think it's the one that guitarbuildingtemplates.com used to make their templates.

Nope it didn't last very long at all. It was just me my wife and my son this year so we have lots left over. You'd figure my wife being pregnant and all that she'd eat me under the table but she really didn't eat to much.

No problem as soon as I get everything perfected I'll post more pics I'm going to talk to a buddy of mine if these can be put into pdf format and make them available here. We got chips here too on this side of the pond :D

The rain kept me home today but since it's raining I can't really do anything. I did however go to the lumber yard and purchased a 6' piece of Mahogany for another project I'm going to under take. It's going to be a telecaster style neck with a bound rosewood fretboard, medium frets, bone nut and 9-1/2" fretboard radius. The projected outcome is something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/USA-Fender-Lic- ... 2eb93cc51d

Ok let me get this thread pointed in the right direction ;) . I'm going to try to get a bulk of the woodwork done before the baby is born but that leaves be 2 weeks to get the body done and neck built which is a short amount of time for any builder that works a full time job and builds on the weekend. I decided the direction of the build would go towards a ventures II style guitar. I tried this once with poplar that was free but not dried so the body eventually warped and unstable. Now that I obtained a actual tracing of an original and proper dimensions I should be able to get this done.
