QUESTION: How do I repair router bit Chip out?

Community QUESTION: What do i do now? Next I was going to use a Large COVE bit around the edges to start my German curve. Should I try it fix this gouge now with epoxy or something or wait until after I do the cove bit? How do I repair this? Please comment :)


Scars give character, but not in this case.

How much of the gouge will be removed when the cove bit and subsequent shaping is done?

Continue, and see how bad it is when you've finished shaping it. Then use a Bondo type Material. I'm sure even factory guitars have imperfections we never see. Filling the gouges, will have ZERO effect on the final sound of the instrument.

Do you mean car body filler, wood filler, or Epoxy Resin?

Two votes for wood putty and my brother in law agrees so putty it is. Sorry chewing gum, epoxy, and Fire maybe next time.

I can't really tell how much of the chip will be removed by the time you have routed, rounded and shaped that area, but I imagine that it won't be all that much.

I'd use a mix of Titebond, CA or epoxy and sawdust (actually sanding dust) from the same wood source to make a filler.
