? about the standard size Mosrite Pickups w/out pole pieces

Postby Gretschster » Sun Jan 19, 2014 4:14 pm

I have a mid 60s Mosrite pick up with the pole pieces that reads about 13K, which I think of as the sound reference for Mosrite pick ups.

Question: Do the Mosrite pickups with the smooth top that still say "Mosrite of California" on them have the same reading range as (what to me are) the classic Mosrites? How do they compare soundwise to the one I have?

there are two versions aviable from the smoth cover pickups - One with round about 8kohm and the other with 13kohm.

I reckon I would be looking for the 13k ones. Do the 13k ones sound the same or highly similar to the 13k ones with pole pieces?

Thanks, although the whole discussion doesn't really answer the original question, save to some degree the post where the guy says the magnets seem to be the same size between the pole piece/ no pole piece versions.

I was simply wondering if there was anyone who had both types (vintage, not 1979-82 that someone talks about in that thread) who had any impressions regarding the sound qualities between the two versions. There is a set of non pole piece old ones that will be coming available soon and I am wondering if it's worth making a play for them.
