Double Neck 12/6 Restoration Project in Horrible Condition

As far as I can tell everything is there. It has been sitting in a case in a closet for many years undisturbed. The major flaw is TERMITES. Remember this is in Costa Rica. The damage appears to be in the body between the neck pockets and may go all the way through from front to back.
The owner is a crusty old gent and is reluctant to part with it, says he plans to "fix it up". We have been bantering this topic for 4 years or so and he has yet to make any progress. He is aware of its rareness and would like to recover much more than it is currently worth.
We have jokingly tossed around the figure of $1000. I have no idea of the condition of the electronics or the straightness of the necks.

What would be a good ballpark purchase price that would allow for restoration to good playable condition without losing my shirt when I sell it?
Here are some pics. Have fun.

It appears complete and original. I see no MAJOR problem to restore it back to great condition. The only thing I see that may be an issue is to retain the sunburst finish. patching the damage may show. Changing the color may solve that though. You may be able to use a base coat to cover the repair, and still get the sunburst finish. Maybe one of the better guys around here, can give you more, or better advice.

That's a great find. It needs a lot of work, but it should be a great guitar once it is fixed up.

I would open it up, assess the internal damage and then clean up and patch up the missing wood parts. I would not refinish it at all. It has a great look about it.

Was it strung up at pitch for all these years?

Leave as is...just make it playable again.

I would just give it a good cleaning and put some new strings on it. The controls can be cleaned. The bass I bought last December had a covering of yellowish spooge but after a cleanup it looks like a well-used survivor.
