Anybody got dimentions for Pickup Bobbin?

Postby cmiller0034 » Mon May 12, 2014 4:35 pm

I'm building Pups for my Ventures clone Guitar. Does anyone have dimensions for the Wood bobbin that the wire wraps around? And/0r how many turns of wire for the Neck/bridge pickups? ANY info would be well... quite helpful.

Thanks Folks.

(this pic is for a Bass but you get the general idea)

66 Ventures bass bobbin:
height: 11.5mm
width: 10.5mm
length: 55mm
This may differ a little as the bobbin is crudely handmade. 10,000 turns of AWG43 will result in around 10kOhms – so I'd put 11,000–12,000 turns on the bridge PU and a little less on the neck PU.
I like your metric set square ;)

Cheers, Max

Thankyou Max for the effort. But I think we got our wires crossed. :? I used the Bass pic of the bobbin because its the only one I could find. I am building a 6 string guitar. I was looking for numbers on those NOT the bass. But, hey if anyone is building a Bass pup now they got the info right.

Anyone else?

WHAAAAt?!! That's weird. Are you saying the only difference between a Bass and a 6-string Ventures model are the string gauges, scale length and circuitry? Or are the guts the same as well?

I'd say yes – at least the 1972 Mark I bass circuitry I have is the same as that of my Ventures II and Celebrity ;)
