Pickups: Mosrite vs. hallmark
I have a set of hallmark pickups on order and I kinda want to know what to expect before I plug in and play. Are they more bassyer than mosrite pickups or are they relatively close?

Hey, Kevin ... SleeperNY (JIM) did a comparison with Mosrite and Hallmark pickups - soundbytes posted, but for the life of me I can't find the post ...

This should be it
I made a sound clip of both my Hallmark and parts Mosrite.
I used a Fender Twin Custom 15 amp with all the settings the same for both guitars.
Both guitars were wide open for both volume and tone.
The song I haven't played for over 20 years so it could be better but I thought everyone would know it. I played through 3 times starting with the neck pickup. both pickup's and last the bridge pickup.

Re: Pickups: Mosrite vs. hallmark
sounds like the hallmark pickups have a little more bass and punchy mids whereas the mosrite kinda have a crisp clear tone more towards the treble side.

Re: Pickups: Mosrite vs. hallmark
I would also like to add that I did have the Hallmark pickups on the Mosrite for about a week and the sound fell somewhere in between the 2 sound clips posted. I can't explain why they sounded different on the Mosrite but they did. I do know that when played acoustically the Mosrite sounds brighter than the Hallmark. The only major difference between the two guitars is that the Mosrite bridge is mounted to the tail piece and the Hallmark sets on studs in the wood.

Playing my project acousticaly it has a kind of a woody tone to it. But when I covered up the cavities with tape it lessened the woody effect.

Re: Pickups: Mosrite vs. hallmark
Are you referring to the stock pickups out a 60 Custom? Or Hallmark hand wound pickups?

Well I ordered a set of pickups from hallmark that go in the 60 custom and I was trying to get an idea of what to expect when I get them installed.

You won't be disappointed. I have them in the 60 Custom, and I ordered a pair for one of my MIJ clones ... and I love 'em. The only thing is that the covers are not as thick - more like a "skin" on the pickup.

Hello friends,
I'm also in the hallmark gang
. love my custom 60. Question: what kind of PUPs are used stock in the custom 60 ? and what PUPS are you talking bout when you say "handwound PUPs" ?
Do they offer different PUPs for the custom 60 ?????
Twangs a lot
