I hope I can make the Schuba's gig.
The Modern Sounds are a killer band.
If you can, get out to see any of these shows, because the combo of Deke with the Modern Sounds will be mind-blowing!

Last Night at Schuba's in Chicago 9/7/09
Last night's show was tremendous!
Deke was in rare form, I think he was breaking in a new comedy routine.
He played some new songs, some old songs and a few surprises as well (especially his first encore).
Most of the night he played his Deke model Hallmark, but he also used a Danelectro double neck (6-string and Baritone). And for one tune he traded places with Jimmy Sutton and played the upright Bass (Quite well I might add). Joel Paterson is a great guitar player, who also played pedal steel for about half the set. Joel and Deke did a few dual guitar solos that were really amazing.
Deke was using his old Standel amp, which has given me a new perspective on those things. But I guess that Deke could have played through a new Crate and still would have sounded great.
In any case, if he's coming to any place that you can get to, do it you will not be disappointed.
(By the way if you do go out to see him, ask him about the Spanish pronunciation of his name.)

I hope you were wearing your Mosrite Forum T shirt or at least introduced yourself to Deke.
