I'm very excited about Friday night. We have a local coffee house that loves to showcase local musicians and this Friday they are hosting an itty bitty teeny weeny mini concert for me. It's a lovely place that seats about 50 people indoors and another 20 outdoors. It will be a 2 1/2 hour show where I'll do about 1 1/2 hours of original songs and 1 hour of cover tunes. We'll do Classic Rock, Rockabilly, and Country. A couple of girls from my band will sit in on a few songs and help with lead guitar and vocals. The owner plans to video tape the entire show as well as record everything to CD. So, if we don't totally suck I shall have some videos and MP3's to share! You can trust that the Mosrite Celebrity will have it's place on stage for sure!

Nice photos, Sarah! I'd love to see the videos of your Java Joes gig......just curious....what got you started in Gretsch guitars? Good skilling on Friday at Java Joes!

Roger, I started playing guitar when I was 17. I bought an Epiphone acoustic for $50 and a 1963 Guild Polaris electric for $100. The Guild was funny because I didn't have a job and only made money babysitting. I found the Guild at a music store while on vacation near Traverse City, Michigan. The store owner let me put $25 down and agreed to three monthly installments of $25. I made the payments and then drove to pick her up. I loved that guitar! It was stolen about 5 years after that. When I was 22 years old I found the 1977 Gibson Mk53 and really wanted it badly. I had no credit so my cousin agreed to co-sign for a loan. It was my very first bank loan, long before I ever bought a car on credit. The Ephiphone gave up the ghost long ago and I've kept the Gibson at my mom's so it's there when I go to visit.

I never considered a hollow body guitar until last year when a friend had me play her Gretsch 6120. I was smitten. I've since bought several of them and will likely buy more. So, these days I'm totally into Mosrite and Gretsch guitars. I find a lot of similarities between the brands in that they are unique in design features and have their own unique sound. Admittedly I have not been exposed to a lot of guitar brands but it seems to me that only a Gretsch sounds like a Gretsch and only a Mosrite sounds like a Mosrite. The necks of both makers are perfect for me.

Sarah...thanks for the reply...that explains it! It's funny, I also bought an Epiphone Texan acoustic guitar in the mid 60's.....just to play around the house. I ended up selling it to my drummer, Doug Brucher.....he still has it to this day, and sent me a clip he put on youtube where he is playing it.....still sounds good! .....
Doug is an excellent drummer, but learned some basic guitar along the way, and often performs in a cafe-type setting....he sort of sings too, lol....but his gifting is drumming...
If you go to his website, Dougbrucher.com, ..go to photos, and scroll down a little, you'll see me and Doug in one of my first bands, The Intruders .....I'm playing a Fender Jaguar, and the next photo is us doing a New Year's Eve gig somewhere.........then scroll down a little further, and you'll see Doug sitting on a stone wall with my Epiphone Texan, lol....well, it's his now....
He lives in Camarillo, Ca. now........and has recently landed a gig with a 16 pc swing big band , playing drums.....he sent me some audio of them and they sound really good!
I'm pretty sure I've settled on getting a pearl white Hallmark custom 60......I don't really want an old vintage Mosrite, I already had one that I bought new in 1965...traded it in..
Plus I think they've ironed out some technical gliches since then, and I want a brand new guitar, anyway......well, have fun at Java Joes!

Hi Roger. That sounds wonderful! I really like the looks of the Hallmark Custom 60 in pearl white. It is a gorgeous guitar. I am also planning to purchase a Custom 60 sometime this year. I’m leaning more toward the flame job and a purple background. That’s cool that your friend lives in Camarillo. I drive through there every day on my way to work. I’d love to watch them play.
