Re: Hallmark arrived yesterday.
Cool clip! Great playing and that Wing-Bat sounds terrific. Reminds me of my early-'70's days on the Northern Nevada casino circuit--back then, if you wanted to be taken seriously as a guitar player, you had to have "Malaguena" in your trick bag--so I came up with an improvised/bastardized version that incorporated bits of everything from "Misirlou" to "Guitar Boogie" to "Orange Blossom Special"--sometimes I'd throw in a little "Walk Don't Run". I told the band to just follow me, and they got into the spirit of it--one night the drummer kicked into "Wipeout", which led into "Sing Sing Sing", so we all followed him for a while! Some shows it worked great, other times it was a trainwreck, but it was fun. All of our other stuff was tightly arranged, so it was my one chance to cut loose a bit. I guarantee we had the weirdest version of "Malaguena" of any band on that circuit!
