Re: Hello From Canada new Mosrite owner :)
Hi Paul, thank you for the link for the thread of the "Basses through the Ages".
I enjoyed reading it and seeing all of the diversity of the basses. I did notice that there was not a bass shown for 1968. Is that due to lack of production or was it because they were the same offerings as 1967?

Sarah, more likely just my lack of knowledge and inability at the time to find a convincing picture of a '68 production bass, I guess

Welcome to the Forum Darren. If you look at the neck plate and it has 4 small screwheads, she's a '64.
The small screws actually hold only the plate cover. The 'real screws' holding the neck are underneath
the plate cover. If they are the regular size screws, then it would be a '65

make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Re: Hello From Canada new Mosrite owner :)
Thanks guys for all the compliments!
I LOVE the playability of this bass. I thought Hofners were good, but this is far better! Those low speed frets are just like butter.
Something interesting has occured to me regarding his bass. If you look very carefully at the logos on the headstock, you can see the faint outline of other logos underneath the original finish, but about 3/16" shifted. This is on both the "Mosrite" logo, and the "Ventures" logo.
There's no doubt in my mind this was factory done....but why?
Slightly off topic....
Did I mention I'm a HUGE Ventures fan?
I grew up on the Ventures as a kid. My parents had their music.
I just recently (and finally)found "The Horse" as a re-issue. What a great LP!
I mostly like their older stuff.
My favorite LP is definitely "Knock Me out!"
Check out "Slaughter on 5th Ave Live in Japan" on youtube. Nobody kicks butt better.

Re: Hello From Canada new Mosrite owner :)
Hello again guys,
I removed the pick guard this evening and discovered the following numbers on the pots. One reads 1346529 ( 1st two numbers are hard to see),and the other pot has 6529.
Would this indicate the 29th week of 1965 as the manufacture date of the pots?
Here's some photos. I hope they show the needed info.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can chime in with info here.
Looking forward to "surfing" the forum
Cheers!
Darren

Yes, that is correct. 29th week of 1965 for when the pots were made. 134 is for Central Labs

Super looking bass. I have the same one only in a bluish green. I thought it was a 66/67, but now
I get the impression it might be a 64. Serial # is 5204. Can anybody give me an idea of its value?
