If this is the same as Brian's...cool guitar! I particularly like the broader headstock type (Joe Maphis?) matched up with this body shape.

'67 Celebrity

Postby revbberry » Sun Sep 13, 2009 1:51 pm

I saw there were some questions about the price I put on Craigslist for my '67 Celebrity. Since we're all friends on this forum, I thought I'd just offer some fatherly advice. I've been owning, playing, buying, selling, and advising on Mosrites for 42 years. If you have an original 60's USA Mosrite (any model ) that looks like the day you took it home from the store, don't price it low. The world-wide market for these guitars is great, and there's someone out there who wants your guitar. I've had success in two markets, Manhattan,NYC and London, England. In London, the shops on Charring Cross Road have visitors from all over the world and I have helped price original Mosrites that earned the dealers a nice commission and left the customers satisfied. In Manhattan, I personally sold 2 of my own Ventures models which I bought used and had to restore. They each went for over 4K. A local guitar repairman here in Tampa Bay sold his Celebrity 2 years ago for $3500. and it was no where near the condition that mine is. I could go on with other reports, but we're limited with space.
I let my Craigslist ad expire. The highest end-user offer I had was $2800. There's a local dealer who's offering me $1200 because he has a buyer in NY. So it's off the market for now until I get back to London or NY. Real Mosrite enthusiasts know they don't have to settle for the beat-up models they see on ebay and will wait (and pay ) for a beauty.
