Hello all, it's new member time again.

I got the Mosrite bug after I saw Deke at Viva Las Vegas in 2008 and a few months later year at the SE Alaska State Fair. Not that he was working a Mosrite on stage, but he was tearing it up with his Hallmark and I thought, "Huh, I get it." That was about the same time I was introduced to the Collins Kids and Joe Maphis and my rockabilly education began. I began reading about Hallmark and Standel and Mosrite and the Bakersfield era and so on. I also expanded my appreciation of American music to include surf rock. A few months ago I brought a Mosrite Celebrity III (a totally uninformed decision) and recently the thinline Elliott that has been discussed under another topic (Hi Ed, maybe we can talk sometime?).

Things I am: photographer, computer-savvy and handy with tools.
Things I'm trying to be: guitar player (late bloomer, current goal is world's best rhythm player!)

The forum has a wealth of information. Thanks to all for taking the time to share it.

Not too many Mosrites around here--but I've just started looking. However, I can see a bunch in Russia from my kitchen window.

Thanks for the kind words and I apologize for ruining your life by turning you on to the majesty of Mosrites! It's a path that makes many go mad....

As for Alaska, don't be fooled, there's a LOT of stuff up there. I don't know about Mosrites but Marian Hall's Standel (#1027) surfaced up there on ebay, located in Palin's town of Wasila.

There used to be a lot of country music up there, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if there were Mosrites hidden in the Yukon like gold nuggets.

Alaska (like most places) has a lot of great musicians. And Wasilla, like Anchorage, is a boom town in which fast fortunes and impaired judgment have led to some interesting personal possessions. That Standel 25L15 was pretty cool, and I felt like a minor leaguer as the bids climbed over $16,000.

Maybe that's what Deke was apologizing for--that having the Mosrite bug is a derivative of the Bakersfield condition and comes with its own inevitable expense.

Anyway, I don't live near Anchorage and I suspect that the only Mosrites I'm going to see are the ones I bring into the state. Of course, if Deke wants to bring his collection when he returns...

BTW about "the Bakersfield condition" you mention; sounds like just the coolest name for an "ALL-MOSRITE BAND" ...like at a the Geek's festival for instance?!
