I have been a mosrite fan longer than I care to admit. As a kid, I distinctly remember going to the music store and getting free black Mosrite picks.... I still have a couple. This was back in the sixties. During the early eighties, I was reintroduced to them through a friend who had me scouring Texas guitar shops for Mosrite Juniors on behalf of his friend who was no less than John Cummings. Eventually I found a Mosrite Jr. that he used for a few shows after it was modified but was eventually stolen at the US concert in San Bernadino along with the original gabba gabba hey sign and a semi full of equipment..... I still have the receipt from when I bought that guitar at "rockin robbin". He traded me a signed Hamer for it which I foolishly traded on but at least I traded the Hamer for another Mosrite. That is the guitar I still have. It is about a 65 model in blue but somebody foolishly stripped it of the mosrite and ventures logo on the headstock which I desperately would like to have back. I play the guitar everyday....for fun...on my Fender Blues Jr. amp with the reverb turned all the way up. Just doing simple chords at half volume and full reverb is enough for me to totally love the mosrite.

You all have to listen to the Mosrite as played by the Volcanos on you tube. Check out Incident at Coral Reef and Kilauea.

I also have a bass that probably dates to about 1969 that I have had for about 25 years. I need new strings for it as the current ones are round wound and 25 years old. It seems that is all that is used these days so I need to look farther for some flat wounds that I remember from the early days. I also need the chrome gaurd over the bridge.....to make this guitar whole.

I intend to find a hollow body Celebrity as I am migrating into the blues and it seems that many of the blues musicians use the hollow bodies. I will have to see what they are all about....

Where can I find a lacquer decal transfer in black of the mosrite logo and the ventures logo?

Cheers

I can't say how jealous I am after reading your intro. To have dealt with Johnny Ramone and his Mosrite would be something to be proud of as far as I'm concerned.
What memories you must have.
You should be able to pick up the decals on ebay I would think.
Bill.

Hey Chris, the kinda intro I like! Welcome and enjoy the forum.

Is your '69 bass a Mosrite too?! We always love to see pictures when possible. I own a '78 black Fender Precision Bass which I like (to keep) even though I'm not a bass player. Good luck on finding your hollow body Celebrity; there's lots of info here too as you will probably have guessed...And don't feel too bad about "foolish trade-ins" ...many of us here have been there too! ;)

Your 60's black Mosrite picks may be worth a fortune now, hold on to 'em (or put them on e-Bay) :D

Welcome, Chris .... and you can get Mosrite decals made for @ $20 a set - good quality, from a guy that sells on eBay. I got a few sets for restoration projects. Just do a search on waterslide guitar decals.
