Hey guys! New Member Scot 65 Vibramute pearl white

Postby Scotstandard » Wed Apr 22, 2009 9:01 pm

hey everyone! Glad to be a part of the Mosrite forum, I am also a member of Surfguitar101 and i think some of you are over here too, another local area mosrite owner turned me on to your site a while back and here i am!

Lets get straight to the gear porn!
I have a 65 ventures pear white vibramute. When i got it it was refinned blue but i have got lots of it off. Here are the current UNFINISHED picks. Just a start. I think it will turn out really nice! The blue looks really good in the pick but not really good in person, oddly enough the yellowed white looks better in person and worse i pic.
Here ya go! If you have any questions about anything im pretty handy and i work at a used guitar store so if your looking for anything let me know...other than mosrites, we never get em in and if we did im all over it.
Here is a couple before the strip

Nice to meet a bunch of mosrite fans!
I regret not the things i have done, but the gear i did not buy.

 My '63?? Danny (Dubtrub) has been after me since we were both on another Forum (mazzrite), and I have been making excuses forever, but I will get these up one day. I DID POST my '65 P.W. on 'surfguitar101' and got some nice feed back..... ;)

P.S. Scot, go to the 'OFF TOPIC' Thread, and it will tell you Step by Step, how to do 'Everything.'

A blue Mosrite is a joy to have of course but I guess it’s nicer to have it restored to the instrument’s original pearl white finish, now yellowed and with the battle scars proudly witnessing it’s past history again. (I think I can even detect some staining too where it has been resting on a guitar stand ;) ).
You have the sentimental value back again but also it’s commercial value too! Beats the sense (I used another word first) out of an expensive brand new factory-fresh-relic, any day!

I like what I hear in your tunes like Tukwilla! It nails those cool classic sixties sounds like no other and reminds me of “BAJA”, performed by the Astronauts, which I particularly like! :D

Welcome Scot and thanks for sharing.
(No regrets with the Showman plus Mosrite eh!)

Welcome Scot,
If you need any pointers to further restore the finish, you've come to the right place for excellent advice. There are some real experts around here...in fact, I don't think it gets any better than some of the talent on this forum.
I checked out the Youtubes and enjoy your hard drivin' psycho-surf! Are all those videos the '65 Mosrite into a reverb tank into the '62 Showman ?
