Hello from Krautland

Postby popp » Thu Jun 11, 2009 1:30 pm

Hi there,
this is michael from bremen, Germany.
I was looking for information about Mosrites because I'd like to build a Mosrite-style guitar for myself.
While I was searching I discovered this forum... the amazing building threads... coooool!

A few pics of my first selfmade guitar, the little "don pulpo" (very firebird -inspired)

Greetings!

Welcome, Michael! That's a great-looking build you have there. What kind of wood for the top, or is it a one-piece body? Give the Mosrite a try - lots of info by some very professional builders on this forum - great folks who are so generous in sharing their expertise with us. Enjoy!

It kinda looks like Mahogany back with a stained walnut top.

Thanks for the welcome guys and sorry for the late reply... :?

yes, the top is made of Wenge (which is surprisingly toxic), the bodywood is Mahagony (mahogany... the seller told me so but i'm not sure about it since it looks a lot like Meranti to me... any specialists out there? :D ), the neck is also made of Mahagony (and a stripe of maple).
the scale lenth is 24 inch with 22 frets... for the finish i used nothing but oil.

Ed: Thanks for the kind words... just read trough your building thread and all i can say is: wow.

I upoaded a few pics of the building process, you can check it out here:
