New guy from Little Chute Wisconsin

I grew up listening to surf rock, but just got into playing guitar about two years ago, and started a surf band right away. I recently came across a black 66 ventures model which has some neat history and came with some cool paperwork in the case including several letters to the original owner from Semie, and a get well card postmarked 1968 from Semie.
I am really excited to be a part of this forum and learn a bit about these guitars!

Thanks! Here is a pic of the guitar. I will get some better ones and some pics of the paperwork this week. My guitar has a vibrato from a mosrite hollowbody, along with a letter explaining to the owner that some guys liked them better. Was this a common switch? I would like to find the original. Any one have one available?

Welcome. Neat-o axe.

One simple rule with Mosrites: if Semie did it, don't mess with it. And you've got the documentation to prove it! Replacing the trem would just make it an ordinary old '66, but as it stands it's a curiosity with provenance. And as far as Mosrites go, weird is good in my book.

Enjoy it!

Hi, welcome to the forum! Neat situation in my book. I have to agree with dorkrock that the provenance overrides the need to conform. But I completely understand if that guitar seems odd. It's a special one. Cheers!

I agree with what the others have said; even the handle is still on the original HSC -which is rare in itself :geek:

Yep, what they said! I don't know the solid bodies very well but I ususally see the silver switch tip with the little grooves. This one looks black. Did Semie do things like that as well?

Welcome to the forum, and a very nice guitar. I agree - leave it as is. It looks really sleek in all black with the minimal chrome and aged guard and logo.
