Hi from Florida

Hi everyone,

I'm a new Mosrite owner, and a relatively new player, although I'm 56. I had a guitar in my closet for a lot of years, but only got serious enough to get some lessons a few years ago. Now I have the guitar bug.

I came across a deal on what appears to be a Celebrity 1, and just had to have it. The only problem is, it has no electronics and what appears to be a non-Mosrite bridge and tailpiece. It also has some serious cracks in the finish. Structurally, it appears really solid and doesn't appear to have been abused, so I have myself a new project.

I know parts are a little pricey, so considering my budget, I'm thinking I'd like to get it playing with replacements, and then down the road, I might be able to upgrade.

I'm glad to have found this forum. If anyone has any good sources for replacement pickups, rings etc. it would be really appreciated.

thanks,

Stingray

Welcome to the forum, Stingray. There's a lot of reissue or replacement Mosrite parts you can get, You could get some Hallmark pickups which are pretty close but are wax potted so the pickups won't squeal at high volumes.

Hi Stingray,
I'm not an electronics expert, but if you want to learn more about them, a good way to look up info on specifics (pickups, pots, switch, output jack) is to type it into the search query. There is so much to read up on here you may have an idea of what you want in no time. It is ok to ask questions too, I know for a fact there are some members who are very knowledgeable in this area. Again, welcome.

Welcome Stingray. Yes you have the guitar bug...and found the forum also, to help you 'deal' with this particular type of fever caused by the bug ;)

There is no known cure for Mosritus. However, with the support of fellow members one can learn to live with it.

Welcome to the Mo' family Stingray, what location of FL do you reside? Also a very interesting user name.....
Do you train them, have one as a pet, play one (EVH), or drive one  ? Sorry, but I had to ask .......... ;)

Thanks for the welcome folks. This seems like a good group.

No, the Stingray handle just happened on another guitar forum. I had this guitar called a Stinger and I'm a Tampa Bay Ray fan..... Not that I'm a big fan of Stingrays, although, I have caught a few of them in my lifetime.
